My practice philosophy incorporates orthopaedic, orthodontic and orthognathic approaches to correct problems with development of the face, the bite (occlusion) and alignment of the teeth.  To get the best result in a minimum of time, a combination of these techniques may be used for your treatment.

The ideal outcome for “orthodontic” treatment is for the teeth to be in a harmonious, stable and aesthetic relationship. The supporting facial bone structure in its correct dimensions is then able to enhance each individual’s good looks and appearance.

Orthodontics - Is the branch of dentistry that specialises in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of problems regarding the alignment of the teeth and jaws. Orthodontics is traditionally carried out in children although treatment can be successful at any age, we are happy to undertake adult orthodontics when appropriate.

Orthopaedics - Our main focus in treating young people is to ensure that their facial development reaches its optimal potential. Our long experience and expertise in this field, of over 15 years, enables us to monitor a child’s facial development. We plan ahead and intervene at an early stage to correct, with various appliances, abnormalities that commonly occur three dimensionally in the growth of the upper and lower facial bones. We place particular emphasis on the correct joint position and jaw interrelationship. This modern concept of early intervention; normally about 8 years of age, largely eliminates the necessity for tooth extraction at 13 years when treatment has unfortunately been delayed. Most importantly, the correct facial dimensions have now been established (orthopaedics). The movement of teeth with “braces” (orthodontics) may not be required and, if so, is relatively simple over a minimal period of 12 months or so.
