Children’s Fissure Sealing
Fissures are the valleys in the rear teeth, the cusps are the ridges. As we all know sugar causes tooth decay, which produces a strong acid which eats into the tooth. A preventative treatment to avoid decay is called fissure sealing. This is a simple and inexpensive preventative treatment and is suitable for most children over the age of around 6 years. It is advisable for the second set of teeth.
When your child has an examination and clean, just ask us, and we will advise you as to whether this is appropriate step to help the prevention of decay . Fissure sealants usually last up to 10 years, and are inexpensive.
As part of our Family Dental Special we are offering an examination, check up, cleaning, polishing & topically applied fluoride for $180 per child. Fissures are covered by CDBS and can be added on!
